New Roof Installed

At last, long last, your new roof is installed!

Your new roof should be aesthetically correct.

Your new roof should be functionally correct.

Your new roof should be technically correct.

Aesthetically, means when you look up at your roof, it visually looks correct. The lines are straight, no shingles are standing up, no weirdness. Flashing is straight. Drip edge cuts are clean and look great. Kick-out flashing is crisp – and was properly installed.

Functionally correct means that it won’t leak.

Technically correct means that installation was by the book. Manufacturer requirements and directives, and applicable building codes were all followed.

All three of these are necessary for your roof to serve you well for the next 20 years. Perhaps a few more depending on the shingle.

Guess what kind of warranty the shingle manufacturer gives you if installation isn’t correct? That’s right, ZERO!

Was installation day really hot? What about freezing cold? Shingle Manufacturer has something to say about that.

Before final payment is made, a final inspection is recommended.

The inspection is looking for both quality/correctness of installation, and a keen eye for damage.

For now, the crew should be doing final cleanup.
